So if you only have EI on your computer the first step will be to download and install another browser. You can choose FireFox or Chrome and follow respective instructions below.<\/p>\n<h3>FireFox:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1. Download and install FireFox<\/strong>\u00a0Browser.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/new\/\">http:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/new\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Install\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/download.zotero.org\/extension\/zotero-3.0.3.xpi\"><strong>Zotero 3.0.3 for Firefox<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(3.5\u00a0<acronym>MB<\/acronym>, Firefox extension)\u00a0<strong>Ubuntu Linux users:<\/strong>\u00a0If Firefox 10 crashes while saving items to Zotero, use the official Mozilla Linux Firefox build. You can use Zotero as a pane below the actual page you are browsing (resizable) or move it to the separate tub.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.landviser.biz\/sites\/default\/files\/image_0.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.landviser.biz\/sites\/default\/files\/image_thumb_0.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"1028\" height=\"563\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also if you use FireFox as a browser, but open Zotero Standalone your references will be sent from FireFox to Zotero Standalone automatically. You can even use all browsers interchangeably and still save all the references in one Master Library, just don\u2019t forget to sign in all of then as the same user.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Sign up for Zotero FREE user account<\/strong>. Process is similar as in Zotero Standalone (Google Chrome #4).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.landviser.biz\/sites\/default\/files\/image_1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.landviser.biz\/sites\/default\/files\/image_thumb_1.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"644\" height=\"327\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Google Chrome:<\/h3>\n<p>Zotero Standalone version works in combination with Google Chrome browser.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Download and install Zotero Connectors<\/strong>. They will allow you to save items to Zotero from within browsers other than Firefox, using Zotero&#8217;s site translators.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/download.zotero.org\/connector\/chrome\/Zotero_Connector_3.0.3.crx\">Zotero Connector 3.0.3 for Google Chrome<\/a>\u00a0(179 KB)<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/download.zotero.org\/connector\/safari\/Zotero_Connector_3.0.3.safariextz\">Zotero Connector 3.0.3 for Safari<\/a>\u00a0(212 KB)<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Zotero 3.0 for Firefox, available above, will automatically switch into connector mode when Zotero Standalone is opened.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Setup new account in Zotero<\/strong>. When you first open Zotero go to Settings \u201cwheel\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.landviser.biz\/sites\/default\/files\/image_2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.landviser.biz\/sites\/default\/files\/image_thumb_2.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"36\" height=\"32\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>drop down and visit\u00a0<strong>Sync tab<\/strong>. Create Account link will bring you to a simple registration page where you can setup your username, email and password. It is all that needed! Mark\u00a0<strong>check to Sync automatically<\/strong>\u00a0and you can install Zotero on multiple computers \u2013 your library will always be up to date anywhere. Note, that Zotero servers store and sync all your bibliographic information + your notes on each publication for free, but if you want to attach actual PDF files to your references and store on Zotero public servers, you have free 1 Gb of storage, after that it is paid. I store my attachment files from private library on on local computer, and in addition link to the geophysics sources on Landviser, LLC site in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.landviser.net\/webfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Downloads<\/a>\u00a0(Web File Manager) repository (you need to be a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.landviser.net\/user\/register\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">registered user<\/a>). The file attachment process is easily automated with Zotfile plugin (more on that later in the separate blog post).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.landviser.biz\/sites\/default\/files\/image_3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.landviser.biz\/sites\/default\/files\/image_thumb_3.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"596\" height=\"484\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. Enjoy Zotero and put it to a good use. With one click on that icon you can grab and save bibliographic info to your OWN Zotero library. Word Processor Plugins for MS Word and LibreOffice\/OpenOffice are bundled with standalone Zotero.
